Seeking therapy can be a difficult journey--especially when you've experienced harm in therapy in the past or when the world around you says "it's all in your head". As such, I want to celebrate your bravery in making it this far already!
I believe that my role as a therapist is to stand beside you as you explore opportunities for growth and to collaborate with you as you draw up a map towards self-discovery & connection. Instead of focusing on medical models that pathologize experience, I work with clients to find joy, meaning and belonging in life outside of prescribed cisgender, heteronormative expectations.
As someone diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as an adult, I work with clients to embrace and navigate neurodiverse experiences through exploring client strengths and avenues for empowerment. Exploring gender identity and sexuality, unlearning toxic masculinity/fostering positive masculinity, and developing healthy Queer relationships are major tenets in my work.
I understand that stories we tell ourselves–and are told by the systems we live within–have great power. My approach to therapy is deeply person-centered and humanistic, tying together concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work with clients to explore the stories they tell and are told about their own lives, honoring them as the expert on their experiences. What stories are you ready to let go of? What new stories do you want to tell?
